I'm trying to decide whether or not to continue blogging or to just give it up since I seem to be so bad doing it on any kind of regular basis.<br />
<br />
In my last post you saw my poor Winston Ways which had some unfortunate bleeding in the wash. Well, I'm happy to report that the problem has been resolved. A HUGE thank you goes out to Vicki Welsh and her fabulous information on dealing with bleeding fabric. After a nice hot soak in the tub with Dawn you'd have to look real hard to see any signs of the bleeding reds. Whew! You can read Vicki's post <a href="http://vickiwelsh.typepad.com/field_trips_in_fiber/2014/01/bleeding-quilts-please-read-this.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
So what have I been doing lo these past 3 months you ask. Well, let's see, one Project Linus quilt has been quilted. One Block of the Month for quilt guild has also been completed along with the another Quilt of Valor and a charity quilt for the guild has also been quilted. I also agreed to make a signature wedding quilt for the daughter of our church pastor. She will be getting married in June. The top is done and I will get it back for quilting after the wedding. I also made a table topper and set of placemats for her wedding shower.<br />

<br />
Along with all this I finally decided on a plan for the annual Quilting Broads challenge. This year it was a table runner. We are all doing the same pattern. Inspiration finally struck and the runner was pieced in no time flat. Quilting it was a whole other matter. I swear I took out more than I put in. But, it was finally completed and the reveal will be this weekend, provided they can get over the mountain pass -- a freak spring storm is expected to start dumping snow sometime tonite.<br />
<br />
Oh yeah, another very big project was conceived and completed. I couldn't show it until it was gifted and that finally happened this week. Back around Christmas I heard from an old friend. Ellin and I had met on a chatline for a pattern drafting program that we both were using at the time. We've kept in touch over the years but between our move and her move, we had not communicated in over a year. Last year was a bad year for Ellin and her lovely husband Don. Between several health related problems and downsizing to a retirement home they were then hit with a major shock in October when Ellin's son and daughter-in-law were stabbed to death by a distant relative they had been trying to help get his life back on track. I did the only thing a quilter can do, made her a memory quilt honoring Larry & Denise.<br />

So, that's a little bit of what I've been doing lately. Keeping busy quilting and in between we've been hosting a lot of house guests so I'm beginning to feel like we've turned into a B&B. </div>

Two more tops have been quilted.<br />
<br />
First up is a QOV mystery quilt-along from last summer that <a href="http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Alycia</a> hosted. The quilt was designed by <a href="http://vickiwelsh.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Vicki Welsh</a>. The quilt called for five fabrics but I was determined to use only fabric from my stash. So, here's my scrappy version of the Allegiance quilt along which I'm calling Stars of Valor. It still needs binding.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGhyphenhypheneHPGUoCFn-zxNK71EjjG8QT3-XeNu4we5h7gNIo1M9jy63SlcjnR3nLbN5D0uoG1N3EuMGnGjsZYwNkODc33KpGxL9i4eEoSlRwBVfvvEMAeZUSj-kn7sEIr-EkM1djZ1v/s1600/IMG_3277.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGhyphenhypheneHPGUoCFn-zxNK71EjjG8QT3-XeNu4we5h7gNIo1M9jy63SlcjnR3nLbN5D0uoG1N3EuMGnGjsZYwNkODc33KpGxL9i4eEoSlRwBVfvvEMAeZUSj-kn7sEIr-EkM1djZ1v/s1600/IMG_3277.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also finished, bound and on the guest bed is Winston Ways. This was a <a href="http://quiltville.com/" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a> class I took at Block Party in Portland in March of 2013 -- just before we moved. I seem to be cursed when it comes to red. All of the fabrics in this were pre-washed, some more than once. I washed this with color catchers yet some of the reds still bled and a few of neutrals, but not all wanted to pick up the red. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm still working on Janet's challenge to finish up more of my Bonnie Hunter UFO's before our class in April so yesterday I managed to finally get Dancing Nines into flimsy stage. Yay! This one measures 93.5" square and all those autumn nine patches started as 2" squares. I think it will be next up to be loaded and quilted -- just trying to figure out how to quilt it. I doubt the quilting is going to show up much so I'm perusing freehand quilting videos trying to find something to use. </div>

You guessed it, there is now a lovely, 26" Innova taking up the space where my ancient old HandiQuilter 16 used to reside. I really was going to get the smaller one, the 22".....but the Bearded One along with the Innova rep pushed me to go larger.....<br />
<br />
Here's Fiona, all happy in her new home complete with her hydraulic lift table and PantoVision. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Due to some "issues" with our dealer who is actually just a rep, and misrepresented several things, Fiona has already taken a trip south to McMinnville, Oregon to Boersma's exceptional shop to be upgraded and have the "issues" ironed out. I foresee a long and happy relationship ahead of us now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meanwhile after a brief stint playing around on boring old muslin I quickly loaded my first quilt, a top I had completed for Project Linus. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisYh0WSjp445VbQeSRpnonhyMG10OOxKOevVqMHwzN8WROXESh7cZSEKYs44ki0YxX1Z21FS07sxEiC7W3KQcReKdZ5lVQzphm8MK-g48nwvMtVHkOudrLdWoEiGHQvE_8cfc1/s1600/IMG_3172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisYh0WSjp445VbQeSRpnonhyMG10OOxKOevVqMHwzN8WROXESh7cZSEKYs44ki0YxX1Z21FS07sxEiC7W3KQcReKdZ5lVQzphm8MK-g48nwvMtVHkOudrLdWoEiGHQvE_8cfc1/s1600/IMG_3172.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once that was completed the Christmas Sister's Choice from Bonnie Hunter at <a href="http://www.quiltville.com/" target="_blank">Quiltville</a> was loaded up and completed. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Every block has two different Christmas fabrics with no two repeated. I had started these blocks back in 2013 in between steps of the Celtic Solstice mystery. Once the blocks were complete and on my design wall I decided I wanted some sashing. Remembering the trunk show that <a href="http://www.debbiescreativemoments.com/" target="_blank">Debbie Caffrey</a> had given at Block Party in Portland back in 2012, I used her skinny sashing idea between the blocks. Yes, the sashing between the blocks has a finished size of 1/2" complete with cornerstones. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I also reversed the two colors for the binding and piping. Since we had a lot of car travel time a good portion of the binding was completed then. Luckily for me, my sister doesn't come in from Denver until December 30th. </div>

I apologize for the photos, they were taken with my iPhone and the lighting at Dad's house isn't the best. Linking up with Bonnie's Linky Christmas Party. Maybe I will be a better blogger in 2015 -- we will see but don't hold your breath. </div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeh08xLc68RWkqiH8_pboq23v151Y3NGYGOQ4VblYn1pUvqeIwozg6PktFBIuVLnw2VoodT6oIshxpD-adcGnz-XTPQQ5jMueRLt5Wh3tpn66OPmQp11JVhlhELrdcl0s9rHmU/s1600/QNmag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeh08xLc68RWkqiH8_pboq23v151Y3NGYGOQ4VblYn1pUvqeIwozg6PktFBIuVLnw2VoodT6oIshxpD-adcGnz-XTPQQ5jMueRLt5Wh3tpn66OPmQp11JVhlhELrdcl0s9rHmU/s1600/QNmag.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Back in November of 2012 when our double move fiasco started I very dutifully changed my mail address from our home of 22+ years to our temporary PO Box address. All was fine and 5 months later we moved yet again. Once again I very dutifully changed everything to our new address -- not an easy task mind you. Do you have any idea just how many things need to be changed? Yeah, I didn't either until I did it twice.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While moving my extensive collection of fabric and quilting magazines I also decided it was time to start going to digital subscriptions for the few magazines that I was going continue to receive. You move 30+ years of quilting magazines a couple times.....</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Among the subscriptions I had decided to keep was Quilter's Newsletter. I have been receiving this magazine for over 30 years. Yes, you read that correctly. This happened to be the only one that I was keeping a print subscription for, deciding to go digital down the road. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It finally occurred to me a couple weeks ago that I have not been receiving this magazine. The last copy I actually received was June/July 2013 which had been forwarded from the PO Box. Strange, because when I go checked my account yes, there is my new address, yet in another spot on their multiple screens of navigation there is my old PO Box -- hmm.....Multiple emails and phone calls have resulted in the fact that they have not been sending me my magazine and they had put my account on hold. Mind you, they never contacted me yet they gladly took my money in January for a 2 year renewal when they sent me a renewal notice. Now they will not/cannot send me the back issues I never received -- 8 in total plus the current issue making 9 not received. For my trouble, they will add 3 months to my subscription which is paid through August/September of 2016!!!! I think not. I finally told the last person that I spoke with that if she couldn't make it right, then she needed to refund my total money for subscription paid plus issues never received. Sadly, all they were willing to do was to refund my $34.99 that I had paid in January 2014. They will not compensate me for the 3 issues from 2013 that I never received. <br />
<br />
I admit that I should have picked up on this sooner but moving twice in 5 months was a huge upheaval in my life. Add to that all the changes that I did make to subscriptions, it quite literally did not come to my attention until now. But that's no excuse for Quilter's Newsletter to not make it right. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
SHAME ON YOU Quilter's Newsletter. This is NOT how you treat long time, loyal subscribers. Take their money, don't deliver the product, don't make any effort to contact me. Personally I consider that criminal. At the cost of magazines today that's outright theft. Your magazine will NEVER darken my door again and you can be sure that I will share my story with any and all quilters that I can. </div>
<div>

I have no excuse. It's been a long, hot, smoke filled summer here in central Washington. We were inundated with smoke from multiple forest fires in the area, one of which set records for it's size and number of homes destroyed.<br />
<br />
Have I mentioned that it was hot?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia2RzWrB0t7gxDCUjT2bfadKGON15MjkdHj-kGIyje2v6gq7Em4GYWVNnVy5_xVvPYx8cgSkCYURZgYIeFwrOQDzfrehx-sHHzd3L1j507fiOp6ga4vDoW1fRmoj0xxoJKkf7D/s1600/IMG_5585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia2RzWrB0t7gxDCUjT2bfadKGON15MjkdHj-kGIyje2v6gq7Em4GYWVNnVy5_xVvPYx8cgSkCYURZgYIeFwrOQDzfrehx-sHHzd3L1j507fiOp6ga4vDoW1fRmoj0xxoJKkf7D/s1600/IMG_5585.JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
The middle number is the temperature in my studio (above the garage -- ac was set to 73). The lower number, the temperature outside....<br />
<br />
This is what one of the worst days looked like outside my window.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjw1UtI5KAwO8U5Li2JWwBaqUpL6Z1KdRpKEPDYmgERWQxPtyf7HaGJWS9bnE-Bru125p0Mk7EvFY79jS3CeS1fHvWo44EG4ZNjMAKXlEPVicOxbaTShCLCbyHczwDgbZMX2nx/s1600/IMG_2798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjw1UtI5KAwO8U5Li2JWwBaqUpL6Z1KdRpKEPDYmgERWQxPtyf7HaGJWS9bnE-Bru125p0Mk7EvFY79jS3CeS1fHvWo44EG4ZNjMAKXlEPVicOxbaTShCLCbyHczwDgbZMX2nx/s1600/IMG_2798.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
And sunsets that looked like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEINew0TfLDod37E3Gu8NoVZ17ARhXwCx0q7gyi-FYCFYHXo79EwCMIPqzpYrjo-LH1cwFoEgxcigDG2jrMFxm1KytAxVsRwNikHvAsLDh5qb-IwkdTwzsGTiHG-ZG7N7gHUZS/s1600/DSC_5946.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEINew0TfLDod37E3Gu8NoVZ17ARhXwCx0q7gyi-FYCFYHXo79EwCMIPqzpYrjo-LH1cwFoEgxcigDG2jrMFxm1KytAxVsRwNikHvAsLDh5qb-IwkdTwzsGTiHG-ZG7N7gHUZS/s1600/DSC_5946.JPG" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then there was the evening we went outside to plant this lovely rose mallow....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPWyZzeKHjiV5Sml5yDpKr9iCWo4Ui82aGk95wyDiU4uPXuuKzVRjPNxuk_h_7FNSXxNVpTpOEgDNY_8OpPLG25StmmT-5EvhFAZzWmeZ-tEHw9D72O4g9Eom80jj6rxYlnyNq/s1600/DSC_6022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPWyZzeKHjiV5Sml5yDpKr9iCWo4Ui82aGk95wyDiU4uPXuuKzVRjPNxuk_h_7FNSXxNVpTpOEgDNY_8OpPLG25StmmT-5EvhFAZzWmeZ-tEHw9D72O4g9Eom80jj6rxYlnyNq/s1600/DSC_6022.JPG" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
....and had my first encounter in the yard with a reptile of the slithering variety -- my biggest fear. Yes, I'm phobic about them. Will not even look at a picture of one.....I was told by the Bearded One that this was of the harmless variety. Doesn't matter, I don't want it in my yard! It took me a month to get off the patio. I'm still not venturing onto the upper bank area where all my garden is....<br />
<br />
But then we went camping. First it was here, absolutely wonderful after all the triple digits.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiockxVdQQJ6WERDKA4569S-TSLoVpzsEK6vcD49lh_owrX_0THLpJNyBsFfJE6OYjhyKORZ3OuA7a0uc-DiuZj1iT8x6jtx1V3E57lGal_LjZX72HGWF_z8ig5Fg_FwxuiAisl/s1600/IMG_2876.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiockxVdQQJ6WERDKA4569S-TSLoVpzsEK6vcD49lh_owrX_0THLpJNyBsFfJE6OYjhyKORZ3OuA7a0uc-DiuZj1iT8x6jtx1V3E57lGal_LjZX72HGWF_z8ig5Fg_FwxuiAisl/s1600/IMG_2876.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Then it was camping among the Ponderosa pines in Eastern Oregon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDXMdlUquN1P7M_v9j4pNhAhEkxFU8tZPIwO1-KPPYGc0aLZaOfGHD9seRQ-0mAg6fMnZAqYjrxW_c2K8iaONkEcoMpikFiCSQTNl5IM7MEd0gxjG7toighPiZ2N3PMGLFI-a/s1600/DSC_6110.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDXMdlUquN1P7M_v9j4pNhAhEkxFU8tZPIwO1-KPPYGc0aLZaOfGHD9seRQ-0mAg6fMnZAqYjrxW_c2K8iaONkEcoMpikFiCSQTNl5IM7MEd0gxjG7toighPiZ2N3PMGLFI-a/s1600/DSC_6110.JPG" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
And presenting a quilt to a special camping friend....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmwc9FHy32cwBHqlVSCjT3ZyD_-ORSQWaakelzmKO7yuFqPTf68a659UwwtWbbTKV_awbfEFG2aRBfO_ZqLJ0_5mbDwiQntHMsdUAe8E9AS-XVbnJ_XNK6MBHBB5qORLhJqIu/s1600/DSC_6094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmwc9FHy32cwBHqlVSCjT3ZyD_-ORSQWaakelzmKO7yuFqPTf68a659UwwtWbbTKV_awbfEFG2aRBfO_ZqLJ0_5mbDwiQntHMsdUAe8E9AS-XVbnJ_XNK6MBHBB5qORLhJqIu/s1600/DSC_6094.JPG" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And that is what I've been doing for the past 3 months......<br />
<br />

It sure has been awhile since I've been here. Oh well, I'm definitely not be the best blogger in the world.....if only I could figure out how to get all those posts I've created in my mind to magically appear here.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I've been busy....some of this and some of that. Everybody seems to be having babies lately. I've been busy with baby quilts and have even forgotten to take pics of some of them - acck.<br />
<br />
Here are a couple quilts for Project Linus. The small one has since been quilted and the 4 patches will be quilted after I complete the current baby quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIPde_y5hJgNdZOH3tpgx9oVdOHff_0AoX-zwBeFYY5PxBgjT2UqTv1yc8YsvbDmlnC3840JezuljLSAq3K_9QwzXRLMjJwNeNQrQzgO900hv5COY5zDJIFEaxF6HFHkfB3Qdn/s1600/IMG_2579.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIPde_y5hJgNdZOH3tpgx9oVdOHff_0AoX-zwBeFYY5PxBgjT2UqTv1yc8YsvbDmlnC3840JezuljLSAq3K_9QwzXRLMjJwNeNQrQzgO900hv5COY5zDJIFEaxF6HFHkfB3Qdn/s1600/IMG_2579.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiutS2Me84zK-9DE47PUieiHSXB5YkJwhbFZ-VLZq82gkjaPcGSqsd7FG6E2mXAJm_4GJCLUkBj1N1JdRfQwLkruf0RawRq8Gvj4-7WBeMIn_klKosuI7l0JDMy7zAevGPJpzgJ/s1600/IMG_2581.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiutS2Me84zK-9DE47PUieiHSXB5YkJwhbFZ-VLZq82gkjaPcGSqsd7FG6E2mXAJm_4GJCLUkBj1N1JdRfQwLkruf0RawRq8Gvj4-7WBeMIn_klKosuI7l0JDMy7zAevGPJpzgJ/s1600/IMG_2581.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Would you believe all the 4-patches were leftovers from a quilt-along I did a few years ago? I was rummaging through boxes and ran across them. Pulled the green from stash and by the time the weekend was done so was the quilt top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This next top was completed last year, shortly after taking <a href="http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/" target="_blank">Julie Herman</a>'s class at Block Party in Portland. This is Northern Lights. The top has been waiting to be quilted. I looked at it one Monday and realized it would be the perfect 80th birthday gift for a special friend. (Her birthday was that Saturday.) I completed the quilting and got it in the mail on Friday and it arrived on Monday.....Not bad for a last minute idea. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio8jNNo8Ln6ETOAVzCQOJhRmOeKPX5SOVnqgJMMDm6-LKnGuWHEadve7wy9s7eWkVj7avXuCPO7uJP5LKhpNXe7Ric9lZLgdKf0IKEsK3GyIVYIJ00Bk4raZvcE_j24NC-OVbV/s1600/DSC_5533.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio8jNNo8Ln6ETOAVzCQOJhRmOeKPX5SOVnqgJMMDm6-LKnGuWHEadve7wy9s7eWkVj7avXuCPO7uJP5LKhpNXe7Ric9lZLgdKf0IKEsK3GyIVYIJ00Bk4raZvcE_j24NC-OVbV/s1600/DSC_5533.jpg" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, yesterday's finish. Way back in 2009 I won some leftover 6" apple core pieces from <a href="http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/" target="_blank">Terry Atkinson </a>. I created a plastic template from the pieces and started sewing. Those convex and concave curves of the apple core pieces were quite a challenge. So much so that I actually tried piecing some by hand to see if it was any easier. It was, but was also much slower. Needless to say, I plugged along over the years. Back in March of this year I ran across that box that held all the bits and pieces and realized I was just a few short rows of having a completed quilt top. A little bit of work and the top was completed. The quilting was completed this weekend and the bias binding was made and applied on Saturday. All the wonderful curves that caused me such grief sewing them together made the hand stitching of the binding an absolute breeze. The binding just seemed to want to roll over into place all by itself. After a mere 24 hours the binding was completed and the quilt was washed, dried and placed on the bed. A true record for me. Binding a quilt, especially a queen sized one like this usually takes me a week or more. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl1opTR7zTHSfmEe2uk0b0EVTLmWohTDybdEJhtrHgHE7wVID8_tfTiDqj6meZdD5ryMX9vsVexxqVviLlVxNkjxZW15_OfF8sDiNr5ebx7bp3Rmp4Kl3qXTXxY4A2Z0spRjHH/s1600/IMG_2651.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl1opTR7zTHSfmEe2uk0b0EVTLmWohTDybdEJhtrHgHE7wVID8_tfTiDqj6meZdD5ryMX9vsVexxqVviLlVxNkjxZW15_OfF8sDiNr5ebx7bp3Rmp4Kl3qXTXxY4A2Z0spRjHH/s1600/IMG_2651.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And now, I will bid you all a good day and happy sewing as I head upstairs to sew those last few rows together on the current baby quilt in progress. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKTbxGwnMHBZCDDi45eflkKN4mFQ53Wer_9xwFY6P9tjgzzSgsd8G46B_OTO_WG8jmRPrL4kYWzWSBtwqOR19UagXvwhcgwEQtfIY3r3zlCCMnhXoxWXMYKPJLLv8rtN5XozE3/s1600/IMG_2465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKTbxGwnMHBZCDDi45eflkKN4mFQ53Wer_9xwFY6P9tjgzzSgsd8G46B_OTO_WG8jmRPrL4kYWzWSBtwqOR19UagXvwhcgwEQtfIY3r3zlCCMnhXoxWXMYKPJLLv8rtN5XozE3/s1600/IMG_2465.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Felicia added the charm pack as a nice little extra. Thank you Felicia.<br />
<br />
I've contacted the local Project Linus coordinator about helping out with their need for quilts. If it ever stops snowing on the group sew days I will actually try making it to a sew in. I will use Felicia's jelly roll for either a quilt for Project Linus or a quilt for our guild Comfort Quilts which are often given to hospice patients.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the QB's had their yearly challenge reveal 2 weeks ago. We used to have the reveal at our Christmas potluck party but too many people are busy with Christmas projects and asked to have it moved to February. Unfortunately, the mild weather the Pacific Northwest had all winter took a turn in the opposite direction. We're getting all our annual snowpack in February and now March. As luck would have it, the pass was closed and I was unable to head over the hill. So we had to settle for FaceTime. The challenge was wide open, basically to do whatever you wanted. I struggled with this -- I really do need more guidelines. So, at the last minute I ordered A Judy Niemeyer table runner pattern, Geese at My Wedding, that was on sale. Two weeks was seriously not enough time. But I squeaked in at the last minute, finishing the binding the nite before.<br />

The pattern actually called for 4 rings. I chose to do 3 because a) my table isn't THAT big and b) I never would have finished it in time if I did 4. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meanwhile, I'm trucking along with baby quilt number 3 and using the other half of the jellyroll for baby quilt number 4. Pictures to come, soon. </div>

Here's what my view outside my window looked like today. We had no snow until February. In the last month we have had snow off and on every week. The only nice thing about it is that it will snow and then the temperature will get up to around 50. Then it will snow, again. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And lastly, here's the poor unlucky Spotted One. We discovered a couple fleas on him, in the middle of winter! Unfortunately he's deathly allergic to fleas and he proceeded to chew the base of his tail until it was bloody. Don't feel too sorry for him, he has just been relieved from having to wear the blue ring of shame and is behaving himself and not chewing at his bald spot. </div>

Lately I just don't seem to have any blogging mojo. Anyway, I thought I'd pop in and share a few of the latest projects I've been working on.<br />
<br />
First up is <a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice Mystery</a>. I ended up enlarging mine to a 7x7 block setting to give me a larger quilt for our queen size bed. I still need to put the borders on this but I'm mulling over what I want to do. I'm not sure I want to go with Bonnie's design for those.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGDLbclgjEuH3t8mFa_xBZnzIkXFSSG6t7luvjPqlJ3V4CvC2bEwtI4GtaNHlrnsc0mV_SNfGZByeIibZKfSmIrygnl3M3YqDeM-FuVzoMjCYFx77TleusAAar3nKp3M582tn6/s1600/IMG_2418.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGDLbclgjEuH3t8mFa_xBZnzIkXFSSG6t7luvjPqlJ3V4CvC2bEwtI4GtaNHlrnsc0mV_SNfGZByeIibZKfSmIrygnl3M3YqDeM-FuVzoMjCYFx77TleusAAar3nKp3M582tn6/s1600/IMG_2418.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In between clues for the mystery, I've managed to get 2 of 3 needed baby quilts worked on. The first one is from one of the "Quilts From the Heart" books by Karen Renaud. (She has two and I don't have the book in front of me to tell you which one it's from.) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This quilt is for a friend I've known since she was a little girl. I used to work with her father and I believe the twins were about 6 when I first met them. Her twin told me she loves polka dots and blue even though she's having a girl, due any day now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I backed this with a wonderful, soft Minkee also in polka dots and quilted it with a feathered pant. Even the white squares are a white on white polka dot. It's a fun quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up has not been quilted yet. This one is for some friends we know through our VW camping group. They're expecting a little boy on my birthday. Everything except the border fabric came out of my stash for this I-Spy. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, that about does it for now. There are a few other projects in the works that I can't show yet so stay tuned to that. Meanwhile, it's back to more Olympics and knitting or hexagoning.....Hope those of you in the path of this monster storm are safe and warm. </div>

For the most part I had managed to keep up with each clue as they were published. The only one I didn't finish were the 4-patches of clue #4. Since I had changed my colors from Bonnie's, I knew I was in trouble when this clue had me putting together my reds and mossy greens into 4-patch units. They started giving everything a Christmas look which is not what I wanted for this clue. So, I put them aside and continued on with the rest of the mystery.<br />
<br />
Once the final quilt was revealed, I tested a couple blocks. Here's what my original color choices looked like:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL_FE09rKIEfpAQEFOdCNtrl2cyIyDwj9Nrsdqwg0HYqBVJNVFguHaejZmHG6zVpKAG-CMpykbId1odylcbO4PT29IFZ2g59kAlNUtcX3zgty3s4MdY5jMFpH5NAl_UPZLz4Rx/s1600/IMG_5983.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL_FE09rKIEfpAQEFOdCNtrl2cyIyDwj9Nrsdqwg0HYqBVJNVFguHaejZmHG6zVpKAG-CMpykbId1odylcbO4PT29IFZ2g59kAlNUtcX3zgty3s4MdY5jMFpH5NAl_UPZLz4Rx/s1600/IMG_5983.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't like the red and green surrounded by the brown. First it has too much of a Christmas look to it. Second, I felt the circles formed were too dark and heavy. The green squares are almost washed out in one direction. So, I mulled things over, discussed it with a friend who is also doing the mystery and settled on a new option. Replace the green in the 4-patches with more of the yellow/gold from the alternate blocks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's what the result looks like: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi616hLtJDh5el7E8HZcX-nHHtivVHaMlGcvHxUoHVXWncjWPCGFQ1F0HxRhNGlAajlJX8Y8TaqZZlxlQlaOzJSCdcqiKBmgnwahgu1zFFNs21PoemvJtUrkbOJu8jDNaEFGezu/s1600/IMG_2408.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi616hLtJDh5el7E8HZcX-nHHtivVHaMlGcvHxUoHVXWncjWPCGFQ1F0HxRhNGlAajlJX8Y8TaqZZlxlQlaOzJSCdcqiKBmgnwahgu1zFFNs21PoemvJtUrkbOJu8jDNaEFGezu/s1600/IMG_2408.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Much better! The overall look is lighter and brighter and doesn't scream Christmas to me. So, now I'm plodding along putting more blocks together along with making more units of all the clues as I want to make this larger than Bonnie's small size but not as large as her king size. I'm hoping that I can keep with this and finish it up before I get bored with it and put it aside. Considering the amount of ufo's that I have reacquainted myself with during our recent moves, I'm hoping that should be sufficient motivation to keep me plugging along. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've enjoyed quilting along with everyone else and love seeing all the different color combinations and ways people have tweaked things to add their own special twist to things. Quilters are a very creative bunch. </div>

You convince one of your best quilting buds to go along. So, that's exactly what Janet and I did for a week. <br /><br />We left Seattle on a beautiful, sunny day. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5918118665973333138'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijJ3LRG7y0LsvQ-6Up0GnZeywNFScfQEMRWVw9Tq3YZeqLWGZNdXgpINQfQfhWJvz6TbItyUwtk0uy8vLRtfS1NcfuI_GB0XDRN6SZLLy7v6DrQPDybcYFHlTPrmw03jXqKXSV/s288/1377917782.862593.jpg' border='0' width='186' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Unfortunately the seas got pretty rough overnight and made for a dreadful time trying to do any quilting Sunday. Not to mention the very cramped conditions we had available for sewing - not ideal for quilting. <br /><br />Early Monday we pulled into Ketchikan under cloudy skies. Fortunately the quilt shop was directly opposite our dock and yes, it was open at 7:00 a.m. and yes, we were there at that hour (QB's take note!) What a great way to start the day and our first stop in Alaska. We definitely helped the local economy. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5918118701532078338'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH6ufyrn8PK3RLG6vPzbcAkjPFFy0DUq-RuOMHwr96nf6nlTknPkBwKGW8M_XMIZzgA5IznJU7S2YQVJP3IhWoItiC1eBySFLgFKhw2fn3bj6iC7l8Ax1Idb6s9I8YXRlZJm3S/s288/1377918135.768370.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Eventually we met up with our excursion and headed out to see the Saxman Indian village where we watched the kids do some native dances and saw the totem poles and learned all about how they were made. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5918118728980758370'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFmc6rlAR7xLCg8x9ys57biMwJt_S8w8kQvGcgSQ_aJZwfJ7INPe46bI7MaQm7JMij-FcQM3nQwYQD08edGvNbO4VMeSLxsEAjRh6Ay7Nti2LlSgxtR1fRjDTNszGuG1cZZp-q/s288/1377918429.116722.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='186' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />There were some pretty talented kids and the button blankets were beautiful.<br /><br />Next stop was Juneau. When I last posted, way back in April we were counting down to our big move to central Washington. Well, the movers showed up right on schedule and with an efficiency I could only dream of possessing, had us packed and loaded into the moving van in two days. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5917200186105238834'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQHT_bGBGvPHxIBBxiwAKfN72BygTZtBcKhC5K0viRtSnPiIeV23_8QtejelU8D8f06rnjkOQS9Hmfs86u5BH7q2Sl_eIozH4lnLLdQeRSx2MauzMXH_R4Rij2W0fHXeDGt3vl/s288/1377703209.272761.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Upon arrival at the new house they were none too pleased to see all the stairs they had to traverse to bring my fabric up to its new home in my lovely new studio, above somebody's ginormous garage. The guys decided they needed to start a new reality show, "Fabric Wars." <br /><br />It has taken me most of the long, hot summer to get things unpacked and organized. There are still a few miscellaneous boxes left to sort through, but I'm getting there, ever so slowly. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5917200213658958194'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwSptI7w7jNy_2wuBewofYlTAqJkbSM7oDCJfIGo43R28sdFB1jkISC74k9sot19WtJc7PlIzi-IrKQJ-Br1hbwSjckWXmPwrsU2NtxivJ0ElVCEEmqdlJtnFKo01wuo79SKyv/s288/1377704572.887386.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />In between all that I've been trying to get some plant life into our barren yard and make it look a little more inviting. Not an easy feat when the temps were over 90 for most of the summer. Now that fall is around the corner, we are looking at getting some trees planted. This black fabric was removed and we covered the yard in bark since its too steep to plant and tend grass. The rock from the terrace level is slowly being moved to the lowest part of the slope that is too steep for bark. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5917200243136239282'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMAGEqSsCLHJbkb1sMGxfpQdXyzVcYpAr7Zspg7UbYFatpAPOREfu_EJdZicVG2y571lCe3JU6474ivVIBF8NJ5OXuREKoiyNmUxFfHQbbd8z2TcvRk790cq51JnS-Yi6ucNOc/s288/1377704611.614516.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5917200272568405410'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8bXjXVJiaAtMCAwez8BghQo1NXpcZJhTA8UQBnIA0zROZ26D0194GW4HJ4siI-nQA-CuM1X-uvHxLO-MnmG7F2uCU7tBNaPCaDTD8mkdjADPhsBNCQG6M00cWUYC1HIuQHJDf/s288/1377704638.347014.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />The Spotted One made the transition to the new house surprisingly well. We're taking bets on how long it will take them to pack my sewing room, even though half of it is already still in boxes from our move to the rental. <br /><br />We were scheduled to go over to talk to the landscaper on Saturday but, as luck would have it, the Bearded One ended up down for the count with the nasty stomach virus that had been going through his co-workers. So, I plugged in my trusty iPod, cranked up my audio book and headed over the mountains. <br /><br />First thing on my list was checking out the new retaining walls and the fence, then we discussed landscaping and irrigation (nothing grows in central Washington unless you have irrigation -- average annual rainfall is about 9"!) Finally, I was able to go inside to see the cabinets, counters etc. Alas, the painters were finishing up the trim so everything was covered in paper or plastic. I was able to get a peek at the cabinets and backsplash while we discussed where I wanted the knobs and drawer pulls. Then there were the samples of blinds and sun shades to go through and decide upon. Sigh, yet more decisions. I never realized how many decisions you have to make when you build a house. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5862090001035834402'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxC_CG3JFIwL20GmV-pNstfBO-obuooBotjH-wv6hVtce-9isRm4PWBXbFzEmZ5hTYJRN08lE3Gi3XfR67IyZRRGRoq1M5d88LVZ_HhzoOXQHaaaoGovHyE-cW9N4KUuT8uu8r/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />On the quilting front, my ADQD (Attention Deficit Quilting Disorder) is in full swing. I've started yet another new project along with finishing up one of my class projects from Block Party. Sadly, with no design wall and a sick quilt holder, there will be no pictures of the flimsy. But, I can show you these lovelies. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5862090024577833890'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnNkXmQcCn2lJLcqFAhsb2lJhOWGJ64MqQtYNIbZba-tHN2K6avPoL_hwV2jFFfo3D4U5Z64BD_afOgUeC8NIR0oD4BjaxpCeCcxUyGw6HhTImkPf_pJG50lW6LbRLC4-vdofc/s288/2.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I've been collecting forest greens to make a green log cabin since there will be very little green on the other side of the mountains. The QB's supplemented my green stash for my birthday this year so what else is a girl to do but start cutting them up and sewing them back together again. Here's the tentative setting plan, only a mere 90 blocks, each with 23 pieces....yeah, go ahead and do the math, just don't tell me! <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5862090049202955218'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0iVLICi6GsSmnKxJfOMSXny6J5TeWrKqMWtUimVZdIYIibkPzrg5ATyWyrkIVtGtgHOLipIRgeveXRftFamoMEU0X2KY8ecEa9D88qnndsqlkSVVsWf96tPTB8lwPKIjfUPKu/s288/4.jpg' border='0' width='400' height='400' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I'm toying with making that brown border out of string pieced triangles. We'll see how sick I am of little pieces when I get to that stage. I really do need to start concentrating on finishing up some UFO's--perhaps after I get all moved and settled in I will think about that.....<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-50550389437228204192013-03-24T19:13:00.001-07:002013-03-24T19:41:38.505-07:00Quilt maker Block Party PortlandLast fall, in the midst of putting the house on the market, starting the building of our new home, and who knows what else, I was talked into attending QuiltMaker's Block Party in Portland. At the time I had no idea where we might be living when March rolled around or if we might even be in the midst of moving but the lure of being able to attend one of <a target="_blank" href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2013/03/winston-ways-all-day-long.html">Bonnie Hunter's </a>classes led me to caving and attending. I am SO GLAD that I did! <br />Wednesday morning saw us literally stuffing the back of the Toyota with everything that two quilters would need for three days of classes. It was almost an embarrassing amount of stuff and neither one of us thought to take a picture. The weather going down was horrible. We went through several large cloudbursts with rain so heavy you couldn't see. Add to that, I was driving the Bearded One's car which I don't drive very often and the windshield wipers work completely opposite of my car! Needless to say, we finally arrived, managed to check in despite the fact they had lost our reservation and then braved Portland's rush hour traffic to make a quick stop at quilter's Mecca, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.fabricdepot.com/">Fabric Depot</a>. Everything in the entire store was 30% off. EVERYTHING! I think the recent checks I have written for retaining walls and fencing had some influence on me. I only spent $36 -- a new record for me in that store. It probably helps that we only gave ourselves one hour as we had to get back for the evening lecture and trunk show which was Bonnie's. <br />I took classes from <a target="_blank" href="http://jaybirdquilts.com">Julie Herman,</a> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.gequiltdesigns.com/">Gudrun Erla </a> and <a target="_blank" href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2013/03/winston-ways-all-day-long.html">Bonnie Hunter </a>. What fun they all were. Julie Herman's Hex N' More ruler is brilliant. You can cut 4 different shapes in 4 different sizes. I foresee using this ruler a lot. Gudrun's class was a lot of fun and wow! Between all her patterns, books and fabric lines, I have no idea how she does it all. Then there was Bonnie's class, what can I say? She is simply amazing. Such a fun teacher, so generous and helpful. I'm really looking forward to cruising to Alaska with her this summer. <br />All of the sponsors for Block Party were beyond generous. We started off with a tote bag full of goodies and each day we were gifted with yet more goodies. One of those fat quarter bundles are Kaffe Fassett. The other is Ty Pennington and all sorts of other fun stuff. I can't wait to cut into some of this...after the big move which is now scheduled for the week of April 22nd.<br /><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5859098134526428018'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgftlo2JOq0EHn7cpGcJ97CEzqT-vF16Q361f0bf1C8hA9opZYmQxaWX3lTn8RBE0Y56ojyRQdeXcutOR2MBODMlGGIVIStT5fJDsHgLnwjZB8GxTlfBW2Mamtz_zunQlKhdZlw/s288/2.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a><br />On Friday I saw something in the local Safeway grocery store that I just had to have. On Saturday I went back to get him and to my delight he was even on sale. I brought him into Bonnie's class, Winston Ways and he quickly became our mascot and block model. He was also dubbed Winston in honor of the quilt we were working on. Here he is at home meeting Arlo, a.k.a the other Spotted One. <br /><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5859098158795256658'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVkc46hDmjwdOuntyFVIFzsNJbInl776JuDAcGspB4QwhQ6V4Xl_2JsVyl_KVSq2-UpwOTynjDNknHI0brvMd3Fa9rQAm3PlVoh7btYEtXaIGYvR-594xqxbJCwFNS-0vwfPtv/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br /><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-51334595742113794742013-03-14T22:14:00.001-07:002013-03-14T22:14:42.911-07:00Almost There<br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5855434018595291794'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI-fVstKLksh1bWrkxHdgA0dwQTR-l6rk_aw5RAd5ukx6DlGDP0VuTrA6LqNU6j8Wfz-fC76ClJyRvl0aKaJ2nrC60q8poakEzBHZ4EGv9EqSBxBeyhZwJ74HR-EXC9a6_-oga/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='158' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Well, the house is nearly complete. Here it is before the garage doors and front door have been painted. The garage doors will be the same lighter gray that's in the peaks. The front door will be a nice dark wine red. At least that's what the color chip looked like that I passed along to the builder. <br /><br />The interior is being worked on now. We haven't been over to actually see the house in a few weeks but have been told the cabinets are in and the granite counters were supposed to be going in this week or next.<br /><br />Our next big expense is outside. We had to have retaining walls built between our home and the property next door as the builder had to dig down more than he anticipated. This left a 5 ft. difference in elevation between the two lots. We needed the retaining walls before we could install the fence to contain a certain Spotted One. <br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5855434039091295106'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhydtJk_qGMHgZbw_9vQ-us3hGsegiforRXUn6Fn0uyFSD_srHjuJixYq4Hpe3oLTYjRWiOCaCHQZSJCQRc-qjMPRKLgmAH_KfUOTR4Yq3IxWxjXRXG_-hNWpZT27f3X1pY8BYF/s288/4.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='158' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />The wall between our house and the neighbor to our north. The sewing room floor is done but the pictures that were sent to me aren't worth sharing. <br /><br />Our actual move is scheduled for the week of April 22nd. I'm SO looking forward to finally being able to unpack and get settled for good. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-46611063273542708042013-02-14T11:11:00.001-08:002013-02-14T11:11:29.236-08:00Happy Heart DayJust a little mug rug for a quick gift to bring along tonite as we have been invited to dinner. <br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=13/02/14/1653.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/13/02/14/s_1653.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='278' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />LizA.<br />- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone<br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-85726877337050863562013-01-31T00:03:00.001-08:002013-01-31T00:03:43.033-08:00Playing with BlocksADQD (Attention Deficit Quilting Disorder) strikes again! It all started the other day when <a target="_blank" href="http://quiltobsession.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/testing-a-quilt-block/">Cathi at Quilt Obsession</a> showed a new block she was working on based on <a target="_blank" href="http://www.pieceandquilt.com/2013/01/antique-quilts-tying-our-family-together.html?m=1">this</a> beautiful quilt. I couldn't stop thinking about it. <br /><br />After staring and staring and analyzing the quilt I decided to take a different approach than Cathi did. I decided there were three distinct diamond blocks. I decided it was based on larger diamonds which were made up of a 9 patch of diamonds. One had dark points on both ends, a second had light points on both ends and the third block had both a dark and a light point. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5839520912824622386'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5rbwUFSeVsSfnKuXA9mvu17FsgeVrGbXDrR5subiL5iunLtewqypUh7l9VG8sx3JR3kxjKgzXIbeEofbYGMzDL4MVPSnSPfxMz07xFj8A3k77yh06QVCrF_gsBXLWJtQZUGIp/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Here you can see the three different blocks. I raided my stash of 2" strips for pinks and purples and chose three constant fabrics for the points and center block along with a white for the background. This is where having an extensive stash really helps. 😀<br /><br />I briefly toyed with strip piecing the sections for each block but, since I was working with some small leftover bits and pieces of strips I chose, instead, to use Darlene Zimmerman's 60o Diamond Ruler. I started playing with these after lunch and had these blocks done by dinner time. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5839520944758784754'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGiEMf4pR0tIM7fy8eRV3sgzADgj0Mstm5wt7GG1a2qSxrtV8vN_hchpkyC-dz0QZjBrX2G34-j1puafSZsR-jebqRBVa8DvS3XLrtQ-DHXVia92MP_qwY2JMMFcVb9ZH5RzEu/s288/2.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Yes, there are eight blocks there and I know the one on the bottom right is not placed correctly. I really, really miss my design wall! It is now midnight and I have a total of 12 blocks completed with bits and pieces for a few more. I think this will be a baby quilt. Meanwhile, I'm also thinking it would be fun to make a QOV (Quilt of Valor) with slightly larger diamonds all in red, white and blue. <br /><br />Sigh, so many quilts and not nealy enough time in this lifetime to make them all. And there will be no quilting for the next several days.......<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-24630832942383594262012-12-24T18:51:00.001-08:002012-12-24T18:51:52.200-08:00Merry Christmas<br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5825710435646733874'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEAsUDbmXT0EnBYQlxBTRzWeJXJzgtVDI71aIZvjhMW7twMu_FnAlFw-zRNq4kWoch41MII2_26afw_lpTgSJ640Mde3kjk2kaC55LoE9YCF1Y_xC8WIDwu0ApSKi_9XgCD17O/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='187' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-33979464071439070472012-12-21T20:20:00.000-08:002012-12-21T20:20:38.662-08:00M.I.A.Well, once again it's been way too long since this blog was updated. But, fear not, I have a good reason. After working all summer to get our home ready to sell, we finally put it on the market and it sold in 19 days. This meant we had to scramble to find a short term rental.<br />
<br />
We found a rental a mere 2-1/2 miles away and moved most of the contents of our home, one carload at a time. We did have a U-Haul for the big stuff but, since we will be moving again in a few months we didn't want to box everything. We used plastic storage bins for all the everyday stuff. Let me just say, this is NOT the way you want to move. It took us 16 days and countless trips back and forth.<br />
<br />
I have taken over the living/dining room for my temporary sewing room. Unfortunately there just isn't enough room for the HandiQuilter to be assembled. All of my shelving units for my stash had to be disassembled in order to be moved. They are now assembled and the stash is almost all put away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLbtUZ3wpau28v9OklpfTWhVXFw5J_SAfAJsmbsrxr35NDXl5DKUAwTRvLpfoNjKRGwtAtxIJI8FwCbeJzGVFkOkx8XxqHuCrB5Lifsh92lbR8sKiL6K6Fpb57O6ac6d8t_UT1/s1600/stashwtmk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLbtUZ3wpau28v9OklpfTWhVXFw5J_SAfAJsmbsrxr35NDXl5DKUAwTRvLpfoNjKRGwtAtxIJI8FwCbeJzGVFkOkx8XxqHuCrB5Lifsh92lbR8sKiL6K6Fpb57O6ac6d8t_UT1/s320/stashwtmk.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
There are still a few empty cubicles but fear not, there are still several garbage bags of fabric still waiting to be emptied. Maybe by the time we are ready to move again I will have it all put away....<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, my sewing table is still in pieces as we have temporarily misplaced the hardware to put it back together. I'm currently using a small, portable folding table from Costco for my sewing machine and actually did some sewing yesterday -- yeah!<br />
<br />
On the house front -- things are moving along quicker than we had expected. We will be heading over next week to talk about extra electrical pulls, those all important additional outlets in my sewing room, built in sound system and even picking out cabinets.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7w1MIFdWWVedI309P81PVK2szDVfcstnVfteAPeDLA6AjBDGiwDEJoZdlan6W1RUmN7MxgGMWo27rfyHMTt8rhzefNSN665i53jyYfz2BecEvNdDHxQS7wTu6QFOfTgw2V50O/s1600/garage+endwtmk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7w1MIFdWWVedI309P81PVK2szDVfcstnVfteAPeDLA6AjBDGiwDEJoZdlan6W1RUmN7MxgGMWo27rfyHMTt8rhzefNSN665i53jyYfz2BecEvNdDHxQS7wTu6QFOfTgw2V50O/s320/garage+endwtmk.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the garage end -- my room will be above the garage. The Bearded One is ecstatic, he's getting a 10ft door for the bus! The garage will also 12 ft. ceilings so he can even open the top while parked inside in order to dry out the canvas. He's a happy camper. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYlktXMM6r2PD1eQKeZ9URwklps7wrAoPDLwdboCzo3ITLvbw6FOMJdhQTgZDJG4l0XgcUTd1i_JU1BzPQ6LFeHQRaxgHzQwRfVxN5kWfDnhc25cICOMKhJ85Ng4a8cebaYw_b/s1600/house+endwtmk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYlktXMM6r2PD1eQKeZ9URwklps7wrAoPDLwdboCzo3ITLvbw6FOMJdhQTgZDJG4l0XgcUTd1i_JU1BzPQ6LFeHQRaxgHzQwRfVxN5kWfDnhc25cICOMKhJ85Ng4a8cebaYw_b/s320/house+endwtmk.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This is the other half of the house, downstairs will be a great room with the bedrooms upstairs. It doesn't look like much now but I understand the roof should be on by now. I've suddenly become a big fan of HGTV and all the home shows. My head is swimming with all kinds of ideas, that's a good thing, right?<br />
<br />
Hopefully life will be a little more settled now, even if it's only temporary. The good thing is, real movers will be moving us the next time.<br />
<br />
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.<br />

A lot has been going on since then. Our dilemma has been solved and now the fun begins. <br /><br />First of all, these lovelies showed up at my door today. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803393965183852706'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOIY4AAoXXK11druNPRm4QvdJd-FWPlDa6Nxp-2H8KBNK77ZkFN7dvwbrIu2DBLuPZBgoH_BmvDmV70hhM83TQyJBz9_udP7aEfdVbO8bcl7Ubb-hkM3ZBf6B31ozmcCnBQ5-h/s288/0.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />A big thank you to Rita of Red Pepper Quilts and Julie from The Intrepid Thread. I won the giveaway. Unfortunately, they will be put in a box until next spring, sigh.<br /><br />After visiting the house in question from my last post, we decided that as wonderful as the house is, we can't get past the 8 ft. retaining wall right outside the back door. But, it was suggested to us that perhaps we would like to build the same house on a different lot. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803393991009600162'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGphtMIGc0Gx49-a2Q1XQfDS8dtrxUNkJOG2xP_NCDQc767xBS6ORA2m9Cd76lncjBenEQEO6k76cs0oASdl_6obXopsdkJU6cpC-NB5Z_JTm26InrXMolMl2lvDKt1R50pIgo/s288/1.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />So, this is now the future site of our new home. We will be putting this house on the lot, but flipping it so the garage is on the other side. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803394016483643474'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdaPsQkIuIwNlkFQSqA2iJgX60MVkc0RY72mDr5vNloqGaLgpnakq9ZQYl48cd6gOppVV5K-VsVQA-HnlYa-wJH6WTNTl7SjxVBUlc8SM2pgkjWRcQmhOPoaahx42Ukg5p6Hok/s288/2.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='200' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />See that window above the double garage door? That is my future sewing room. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803394033615612162'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB1K8j0shP93cy_jkakTnbbcv7Y7tPejVIwgnnBzj0hg8BnymO1ulJ_a3DdHhE3kjhyEKq9q-7DE366tQ-0s7LdhZ2rmhTPPm1cKQvheLAoi8KwL8KjSv2pWdeKFtE9EQVLAAK/s288/6.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />This is from the doorway. You can't really get a good perspective of the size but this room and the portion directly ahead total about 536 sq ft. The window above the garage is just to the right side of this picture. I debated about dividing the room or not like this one is and finally decided that I need to do so because the room has dormer walls and this wall will give me a place for a design wall. I will put a nice comfy chair, a daybed and all my quilting books in there. <br /><br />This is pretty much what the view from my window will be. <br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803394062683560626'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEIaD-IOfKP4k9eDOResij6HGNi_ADRZThR-xd6RJmNg-A-BjGmo3Ig3UjUHrvjpKpxCELivojgnpkVCLqa6Qq0JqSV4uogLRLqZTSaC7yyGxP17_xDEigyloLZugE64SLuNdB/s288/4.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='181' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />The Bearded one is happy because not only will the bus fit in the garage, but the ceilings are 11 ft and he will be able to open the pop top to dry the canvas. <br /><br />The Spotted One isn't so happy. Now that the house is on the market, his little hideaway cave in the guest room is no longer cavelike. Once the rains and stormy weather returned a couple weeks ago he was most unhappy. One sleepless, stormy nite I got up and couldn't find him anywhere! On the second circuit through the house I looked on the far side of my cutting table. I found him, curled as tight as possible in my scrap basket. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5803394086386635298'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWNAeDPlRn8v3KisSY436IWQijIP8R7Btj6TPOuJ7zAU0cY1heZQ5ScsZ2D0k9gU3cG79YI5L74l3yBrJkJflIyVSfQbaaiFQsAIFdVVp0D7hrExmuKZcpY6YwUe7FJFI3DmZQ/s288/5.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='220' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />What a goofball. <br /><br />So, that's all my news. After 4 months of painting and getting the house ready to sell, I am finally able to relax a little and do some sewing, in between house showings, ugh. <br /><br />Keep your fingers crossed for me that the house sells quickly. But then, if it does, we will have to find a short term rental......<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-22487834018109354912012-08-10T08:52:00.001-07:002012-08-10T08:52:56.313-07:00DilemmaI haven't been blogging lately because I don't have anything to share. I'm quite sure I'd bore you to tears in no time flat discussing, ad nauseum, all the things we are doing to get the house ready to sell. Suffice it to say, we're not quite there, YET.....I cannot believe just how much stuff two people can accumulate in 22 years. Then there are all the projects that we've been meaning to do and never managed to start until now. Too bad I won't be able to enjoy the walls my laundry finally has, or all the nice, freshly painted white doors, windowsills, baseboards etc. After 22 years of 1980 dark, faux wood grain doors, everything has been freshened and lightened up. <br /><br />We're almost there. The 10' x 10' storage unit is getting pretty full. The wonderful young EMT who moonlights doing yard work is almost done with the yard and it looks amazing. All that's left are a few odds and ends, the guest room needs to be painted -- it's still the same color it was when we moved in, Pepto Bismal pink! And, the carpet needs to be replaced. I think we will be carpet shopping next week. <br /><br />Now for the dilemma, we've found a house in Wenatchee that is exactly what we want, complete with three car garage that are all tall enough for the bus to fit in with a bonus room above for my sewing room. The house also has a wonderful view of the Columbia River and the Wenatchee valley which is a big thing for me since there really isn't much over there besides brown. The house has just started construction and is due to be completed mid-late November. However, the latest word on the opening of the data center, which is where The Bearded One will be working, has been slid from April to August. Yes, NEXT August as in 2013. <br /><br />So, do we go ahead and put this house on the market as planned by Labor Day. If so, and if it sells, I will be moving to Wenatchee with the Spotted One while the Bearded One stays here. And then there's the problem, where would he stay? As I said, this house is absolutely perfect. It's the only thing we've found that has everything we want. So, it's hard to pass up something so perfect. There's also the little fact that interest rates are really low right now. What to do, what to do. That is our dilemma. Meanwhile, we will continue to finish up what needs to be done here and figure out what our next step will be. <br /><br />I will leave you with a picture of the Spotted One from our camping trip to the coast last weekend. It was a beautiful weekend and it was nice to get away and not do anything. Of course, when we got home, one of the hottest days of the summer, the air conditioning decided to break down.....<br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5775073046037207442'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq_Pblu-H92xsijFsd168MQr5P8A7wxQn5kywfMcjX2Aim80vF8UvVaxYityaRSCAZeCS2fTcAferCMIT5dHzzVmOgciRAq1jDMZTK0NMchyD0SgVtdTrWo8zdhx-_I5CCURvK/s288/0.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />And yes, that is my pillow he's resting his Spotted little head on......<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/280/95729D2A2480CB0D4E656169B127D95A.png" /></a><br />LizA.http://www.blogger.com/profile/13948614733590760591noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13183941.post-38234204871746512172012-06-22T13:18:00.001-07:002012-06-22T13:18:40.876-07:00Not Much to ShareLife has been getting in the way of quilting and will continue to do so for the immediate future. <br /><br />A little over two years ago my husband was laid off after working for almost 20 years at a local airline manufacturer. He has spent the past two years back there, working as a contractor. Now he is going back fulltime but he will be working at their new data center that is currently being built in "The Middle of Nowhere, Washington". This means that we will be moving, probably by the end of the year. <br /><br />So, to that end, we have been busy doing all sorts of home improvement projects in prep for getting the house ready to go on the market. First up was a much needed bathroom remodel. To go with that I made a quilted shower curtain based on Elizabeth Hartman's Sparkle Punch pattern. The bathroom walls are painted a very light shade of gray that almost looks lavender. I dug thru my stash for all my grays and blue-purples with a few red toned purples for punch. I added tabs on the back to fit over the rod and placed the liner hooks between the tabs and minimally quilted a few of the white areas just to hold it together with the backing (no batting). I did this so that I can easily turn it into a quilt if I don't have a need for a shower curtain in our new home. <br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/102079259313379452396/LizquiltzScrapBasket?authkey=Gv1sRgCI7hxZOFh-zMRQ#5756958357343263426'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV5A24cU31khb2t-E2_BOzliKpCLGB1wSe-afoTEzzWu4GpmzttunDfnPgo4AReePju_5wJTof00bpzAg_nhIKkttNVlEUdU2RQ3e9h4i8yQwr_Pg4Zq_6M0yS1C23ff8I6Jwb/s288/0.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Since the next few months will be filled with more home improvement and lots of sorting of 22 years worth of stuff.
