Among my weekly quilting friends, the QB's, I'm kinda known for always being the one to preach at anybody who puts down an open rotary cutter or does something stupid like cutting towards themself rather than always cutting AWAY from yourself.
Well, I'm sure you can guess where this post is going....uh huh, I did it. I was trimming up something and cut towards myself. Only my finger happened to be in the way. It is now a skinnier finger than before. I never realized just how much a finger can bleed -- WAY more than a head wound, at least in this case. But, I suppose that when you slice off a chunk of skin about 1/2" x 1/4" from the side of your finger tip there will be some blood involved. No blood ended up on the fabric but the bathroom, well, that's another story....
The Spotted One thinks it is his duty to try to lick the bandage off my finger.....thanks Arlo.

OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! Liz, no! I am so sorry that this happened to you. A word to the now wiser is sufficient; we can never pratice too much caution.
I did the same last March ... left pointy finger & $600.00 later in medical bills. ER visit, infection, etc ... learned my lesson!! Finally healed!! Hubby let me buy a Go-Cutter so I won't do it again!!
Oh Bummer!!! I haven't done that yet......I have put little slices in my fingers, but so far I haven't cut off any chunks!!!! I feel for you!!!! Take care of yourself and hope you are better soon.....maybe a trip to the LQS to make it feel better??? hee hee
SOrry about your slice. We do this with those sharp things! It is a hazzard of the trade.
Well, as long as you didn't bleed on the fabric, all is well.
Kidding!!! (Only partly.)
Yep, I do the same... preach, preach, preach, then royally slice myself with the danged cutter. I really do hope you are feeling better. Those razor blade cuts are nasty and hurt like the dickens!

I do that when I am cooking. I swear my left index finger has a permanent dent in it. My son comes over, sees the band-aid and says... "Mom. Did you cut yourself again?"
